The Ministry Project

This project is a non-profit ministry intended to lift up the radiant, life-changing love of Jesus.

Whether or not you may already know Him, I pray the music and essays engage your curiosity and cause you to wonder more deeply about what following Christ may really be all about. And that you might discover a refreshing, inviting message – something natural and relatable, but infused with an undercurrent of the Divine.

The focus of my music is on worship of God, and not performance for people. The essay, Ivory Praise, describes more fully the foundation and purpose of creative freedom in this musical worship and how my life experiences, responses, and faith manifest within it. The piano piece is both a nest and a springboard, safely holding my heart’s most precious impressions and thrusting me, as needed, into pivotal spiritual discoveries.

Each essay, made up of four parts, is matched with its corresponding original piano composition. The “Composed” section reflects the transformation of my raw feelings into music. It is the messiness of life scribbled onto a music staff, transcribed onto the page. The “Amplified” section expands more fully and rationally, delicately revealing truths, lessons and hopes about a life of faith in Jesus. “Postlude” contains related quotations from several books that have made a deep impression on my spiritual growth. I wanted to include many more quotes from additional sources, but decided, for the sake of brevity, to focus only on these. “Encouraging Word” holds passages from Scripture that instruct, stir up and invite God into our lives.  As His living and active Word, these truths speak passionately, clearly and relevantly to each of us.

It’s much easier to stay in my thoughts and feelings without trying to put things into words, to just stay in my head and in the music. These essays are a natural compilation of this inner faith life – an outside expression of the inside, which I have frequently wished to convey. To finally develop and share here, through the written word, is a great relief and deep joy.

The hidden, spiritual world of creative latitude is a rich field. I’ve long wanted to share my journey through this open soil, where God plants, tills, uproots, prunes, replants, waters and harvests. This ministry, both music and written word, invites you to walk along with me between the rows, around to the far edges and into the very center, where God’s cultivating work fights against unwanted weeds to produce the fruit of His love. The field is always growing.

I pray for your own relief, joy, and discovery, as well as discernment and encouragement in your spiritual journey.

May His grace pour over your heart, mind and soul.
